Montgomery County Conservation District is partnering with local organizations to complete 30 acres of riparian reforestation in 2010 through the Tree Vitalize Watershed program.
Tree Vitalize, a partnership to restore tree cover in the five-county region in Southeastern Pennsylvania, will be offering Tree Tender classes to educate participants about planting and caring for trees. The classes will offer nine hours of classroom and field training covering: tree biology; urban stresses; tree identification; pruning; root care; fundraising; media outreach; volunteer management and working with local governments.
Rebates are available for homeowners looking to plant native trees. For more information, please visit the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society - Tree Vitalize your home website.
Grant applications will be accepted for the 2011 funding cycle. The deadline to submit an application is November 30, 2010. Please note that 80% of the cost of planting materials must go towards trees. If you have a riparian restoration or stormwater management area planting project you would like to have considered for funding, please call 610-489-4506, x -19
